Situated in Srilanka’s south east region hugging the Indian Ocean, Yala is considered to be a paradise by wildlife enthusiasts. Located 300 kilometers from the capital city of Colombo, Yala national park covers an area of 979 square kilometers. Yala National Park has a variety of ecosystems including moist monsoon forests, dry monsoon forests, semi deciduous forests, thorn forests, grasslands, marshes, marine wetlands, and sandy beaches. With its picturesque landscapes, varied flora and fauna, Yala offers ample photographic opportunities to nature photographers. Yala has 44 varieties of mammals and 215 varieties of birds. Yala boasts the greatest concentration of Srilankan Leopards (Panthera pardus kotiya). Apart from the apex predator, Yala is well known for elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, sambar deer, peacocks etc... This June, Green cap takes you to the land of Kotiya for a 3 full day safari. 18th June: Reach Colombo by 12PM. You will be transferred to Yala by airconditioned coach. (6 hours drive, good roads) Reach by night. Overnight stay at homestay.
19th, 20th, 21st: Full day safari at Yala NP (6AM – 6PM). Post safari, Freshen up and you get a chance to interact with the mentor.
21st: After evening safari and early dinner leave for Colombo airport.
22nd June: Travel back to India by morning flight.
We would be staying at a home stay in a village near the park. Neat and clean rooms.
Homemade food will be available. Packed breakfast and lunch would be carried to the park. Dinner will be provided at the home stay. Type of food would be Srilankan food which is very much similar to Kerala cuisine. Snack box and water will be provided for refreshment.
